Community Profile

This is a non-partisan group for progressives who live in traditionally conservative parts of the United States. This is a place to talk about society and politics, grassroots activism, and other related interests, including discussing the culture and history of our home states with other residents without running into reactionaries.

We accept that different people may have different feelings about their backgrounds or current residence. We all have different personal experiences. We do ask that you be respectful of other members. This includes practicing a"step up and step back" approach to allying to take care not to talk over minority voices of social identities in which you do not inhabit and move through the world within. This ESPECIALLY applies to white people when engaging the experiences of POC.

You do not need to self-identify as a Democrat to be welcomed! In fact, you do not need to be a current resident of these states or even the U.S. if this is a topic of interest to you. While we will and should have different opinions on various issues, we take it as a given that we are all committed to basic shared values, such as commitment to anti-racism, anti-xenophobia, criminal justice reform, undocumented rights, health care reform, environmental protection, intersectional feminism, and queer liberation. No TERFs allowed.
